We loved our stay! The cliff-side private rooms are impressive, interesting, unique, and more! We really enjoyed the privacy and comfort. The staff were readily available ad always a pleasure to talk with. It is conveniently located for walking to Fira or a nearby restaurant. The sunset view here is comparable or equal to Oia! Hope I'll return to Afroessa again soon!

My husband and I took a six week vacation to Europe last year and we decide to start in Greece. At first we spent some time in Athens and then Mykonos and Santorini. We had no idea of where to stay at and since we got there pretty late and had to look for a hotel at night time, we found a place that could have us and the day after we rented a scooter and went hunting for a decent place to spend our second anniversary. So, after walking around and looking for diferent places at Fira or Ia, we found this AWSOME MAGICAL TREASURE in Imerovigli called AFROESSA. The owner, Ionna, is the sweetest person we ever met. She did everything she could to make us feel "at home"....And she did it, alright! We got a room above the pool on the left with a kitchen, tv room, our comfortable room and great bed with a CD Player with nice cd's in it, balcony overlooking the most amazing view in the world (the Caldera) and the most wonderful sunset ever.... We stayed there for five nights and we had the most amazing and most romantic time of our lives...

At that time, the whole place was "ours" because the end of the season was coming and we didn't have ANY neighbors....We felt very special....Ionna was always making sure if we were pleased...Of course we were, and guess what? We are going back to Afroessa to spend a whole month there next year. Well...Ionna doesn't know that yet, but I'm sure she'll be happy to see her old friends again.
Not too many people know about this place and you know why? Beacuse people don't take the time and efford to look for something so special as Afroessa!
    Way to go, Ionna!

This First Class Hotel is situated in Imerovigli, Santorini right on the rim ( Caldera ) of the extinct volcano and has stunning views out over the surrounding islands and the Aegean. The rooms are built into the rock on the descending terraces, as per the Santorini fashion and the two that I saw were comfortably furnished in typical Greek style. Our room which was next to the swimming pool had a comfortable bed, an ensuite bathroom which was clean and functional and a separate kitchenette/dining sitting area which could also accomodate two children if needed. All the rooms have balcony areas in front of them with the great views. This is probably as good a hotel that is graded ' First Class ' that you can get in Santorini and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone who can handle the steps up and down the terraces ( maximum 108 steps ! ). It was good value and the owner, Ioanna, was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. A small hire car is useful to get around Santorini ( 30 euros/day ) but the fit can walk into Fira from the hotel in 20 mins or so.
