Damigos Tours was founded in 1971, with the purpose to promote the tourism on the island of Santorini, whose unique combination of wild beauty and extremely geological interest, was a challenge for the owner, Nikos Damigos, to create a General Travel Agency in order to bring organized tourism in the very promising volcanic island.

With the urge of Damigos Tours, the first lodgings, campings and hotels in Santorini started to operate, until the first tour operators to see its future tourist challenges.

With this vision, Damigos Tours continued to equip his installations with specialised personnel, while simultaneously Mr Damigos realized the aquisition of the first private coaches, for better servicing his customers, thus offering a big range of excursions and conducted tours on the island. The archaeological and geological interest of Santorini, shortly attracted leading scientists (geologists, volcanologists, oceanographers, researchers) from all over the world (Jean-Jacques Cousteau), who trusted and relied on our office for the organisation of their campaigns on the island.

Moreover Damigos Tours TOURS began the first marine excursions in Santorini, around its internal islands, Thirasia, Aspronisi, and of course at her well known Volcano, Palea and Nea Kameni. Shortly, however, Damigos Tours became the main representative of ferry ships, which started to operate various lines to the Cycladic islands, Crete and Athens, while the tourist office continued to enlarge its activities by offering services of Accomodation, Coastal tickets, Air tickets, as well as Money Exchange.

The tourist concerns of Damigos Tours were not limited though, only on the above mentioned services, but were also extended in representing the first air companies (charters), and private jets, that began their programs in Santorini, offering handling and supervision services.

Additionally, D.T. makes a dynamic entrance in the field of international cruise ships, that begin to approach the island, and very shortly becomes the representative of very important international Cruise Companies, which start their Cruising programs in Santorini. Simultaneously it organizes the shore excursions for their passengers.

Finally, D.T. has been occupied with the organization and service of congress activities that take place in Santorini, as with the organization of travelling packages in Greece and abroad. At the same time, it costantly seeks to improve its tourist services through market research and by discovering and experimenting on new alternative modes of tourism, aiming at maintaining a high levels of qualitative tourism.
