I was in messaria a few days ago.I had a stroll the last day in the village and i was charmed by the number of churches and the old mansions which are now being restored. The crossroad in messaria is quite busy and unfortunatelly without traffic lights .

I stayed in Messaria last year for a few days and thought it to be amazing. I could not speak Greek only a few words, but I found the locals were always very helpful and friendly. There is a family run restaurant in the centre of Messaria and there food is all home made and tastes great - the prices are also extremely reasonable comparing to prices in Fira or Firastefani. I nice place to see and spend a few days in. Messaria is in the middle of the island therefore easy access to everthing, especially when taking the bus as all buses lead to Messaria.

I've been to Messaria just by chance. We found accomodation at Rooms to Let in Katerina's house. She and her sister were very kind and helpful with us. They explained what to visit in Santorini, why and when. Thir rooms were very clean and comfortable, near to all the bus stops that take to the most interesting places to visit. We had a wonderful time down there and we'll never forget them!! I take the advantage to ask the e-mail address of Rooms to Let. The owner's full name is Katerina Roussou, I've lost all contact with her...
