We spent four nights at Tsitouras in late February 2003. The weather was not that great - it snowed - and our luggage didn't arrive until the night before we left. All the ingredients of a lost vacation, right?

Wrong!

Fortunately we took out an insurance policy in the form of a reservation at this lovely hotel. I hesitate to call it a hotel but as it is unique in my travelling experience I don't have a word for it.

This was the most money I had spent on a room but in this case it was amongst the best value as well.

Go ahead and treat yourself to a pampered stay in one of the most beautiful places you will find. Enjoy a bountiful and delicious breakfast (don't let the title "Continental" fool you), spectacular views and the most attentative, friendly staff you will encounter.

The local wine and produce (especially tomatoes and eggplant) are fantastic, only out done by the genuine kindness of the people who live in Santorini.

I can't wait to spend another snowy February with no luggage at the Tsitouras.
