Examining the volcanic activity of the Aegean, probably the most dangerous underwater volcanic area of the Mediterranean.

Our destination for Episode 7 of Nautilus was Columbo, the underwater volcano of Santorini.

The preparation for this mission had started the winter before, when Evi Nomikou, a Marine Geologist, visited Santorini and discussed with local primary school students about Columbo.

In the continue, children visited the “Aegean” oceanographic boat and stayed abroad during the great diving down to Columbo.

The HCMR team was really impressed by the evidence they gathered, which show how little we know about the great depths of our seas.
